Well, time has flown this last few weeks. When Ben had the letter asking him to represent GB at the Euro B Champs in Switzerland earlier this year it seemed ages away. Even a couple of months ago when I was booking the Ferry, it was something still a fair way off. Now, all of a sudden it's on top of us.
Shrewsbury National this weekend, back home Sunday evening, work Monday and Tuesday morning, home finish packing and off we go.
The plan is to drive to Dover, leaving late afternoon/early evening to catch the ferry at 3.30AM and arrive in Calais at about 6.00AM. Try and get as much mileage done as we can before the 'Rush' hour starts and then a leisurely drive down through France all day Wednesday (about 600 miles) and arrive in Gland In the evening or possibly pull in for a few hours in one of the service areas, catch some sleep and get there Thursday morning.
Service areas aren't the same as our ours - the majority are only large car parks with a toilet. Ideal (free) for a few hours break particularly if, like us, you have all the facilities for making tea, coffee, food etc on-board. The only caveat apparently is not to flash your hazard lights whilst entering - I've been told it's a signal that you are prepared to indulge in 'certain' sexual practices. Might just try a quick 'Flash' as we're leaving and watch the reaction

Thursday will be spent acclimatising, stripping and checking the 809 and generally 'setting up camp'.
Friday and Saturday are Practice/Qualifying with the Finals on Sunday. I've made arrangements to get this thread updated with Ben's results throughout the weekend - so keep watching for updates.
Monday is a long haul back through France to Calais to catch the Ferry about 9.00PM, arrive back about 10.30PM in Dover and then it's only a short sprint of 300 miles back home before work Tuesday afternoon.
Some good news this week - Mr Hudy himself will be there along with some team drive giving any help and assistance they can to Xray drivers. Not only that, they're handing out a free 'Goodie' bag with a Tee Shirt; Wishbones; Gearbox; Casings; and some other bits and pieces. Only downside at the moment is I can't get hold of any Nosram Kamikazee Tyres to take with us.
We swopped to them this year to try and were mightily impressed. They seem to work well in most surfaces in dry conditions and have a very good wear rate - even the 'SuperSofts'. I've got some squirrelled away but not enough for a full weekend of Euros. They are due in the country today (Friday) or Monday so I'm praying they'll arrive with us in time. If not we'll have to fall back onto the Crimefighters we used last year of which I still have a small stock.
This is a
LINK to the club's website - some info/pics there but not much/many.
If anyone finds any other links to the event, could you post them in this thread so everyone can share them please.
