Welcome to Swansea & District Model Car Club.
The Club has been in existence in its present form since 1994 but can trace its roots back to the early 1970's. We race battery-powered buggies and trucks, and some types of nitro-powered, radio-controlled cars. The club is affiliated to both the British and Welsh Radio Car Associations and members are all covered by Public Liability insurance.
Most of our Members race 1/10th scale off-road electric or 1/8th scale rallycross nitro Buggies on our Grass Track at Elba Sports Complex, Gowerton, between April and September and 1/10th scale Touring Cars on our Carpet Track at Swansea Institute of Higher Education, Townhill, between October and March. We hold our Club Meetings at one of these venues on most Sunday mornings from about 09.30 hours until about 14.00 hours. See the Calendar for more details.
We are proud of our reputation of being a friendly Club and we cater for drivers of all ages and abilities, from Novice to Expert. Less able-bodied Members are welcomed and are invited to take a full part in all the activities of our Club.
Apart from the Club's own Championships and Social Meetings for Members, the Club also hosts Rounds of the Welsh Radio Car Association's Summer and Winter Championships along with other major 'National' events. These events attract some of Britain's and Europe's best driving talent.
The club's own driving talent ranges from some of the best in the country to absolute novices and ages range from 7 to quite 'Senior'. Plenty of help and advice is available to all new and prospective members.
So if you own a radio-control car, are thinking of buying one or just want to find out more about our Sport, come along and meet the Members either pop in for a chat or bring your kit along and join in the racing.
Look forward to seeing you soon
